Are you hosting Great Lantern Festival in 2026?

No — we will not host GLF at Derr-Okamoto Park in 2026. We're still taking interest emails for future team roles and for help with sister Mid-Autumn events (such as Sac State APIDA Night Lights).

Why list director lanes if you're not hosting?

They're a map of how we organize when we produce GLF — and the skill areas we look for when supporting partner events. Share which lanes interest you when you email.

Should I find a counterpart at another festival?

Yes — we encourage it. Every organizer benefits from someone running the same lane at another festival or event. Co-chairs can help make an intro if you don't have one yet.

Do I need festival experience?

Helpful, not required. Co-chairs and peer organizers back you up.

Is this paid?

These are volunteer leadership roles when we host — you plan the lane; others may execute. Sponsor-funded experiences may include modest stipends for performers or vendors — not director compensation.

What's the difference between site & ops and program?

Accepted Answer

Site & ops keeps the gates open, power on, and guests comfortable. Program & experience is what families come for — stage, procession, children's programming, and elder hospitality.
